WORK AND EAT - Weed Control Project at a recently acquired property in the Ponderosa area. DHC is restoring the vegetation to native species and pulling/treating the weeds. We need your help for a few hours to pull weeds on Saturday May 18. Then we can eat lunch and walk the property - that is not open to the public. DHC will provide a lunch for the volunteers who register ahead of time. The soil is moist to make pulling the weeds easy and also gives the native plants a good chance to get started. DHC experts will identify weeds and native plants and discuss the control methods being used.
We will meet at the Lutheran Church on Schafer Road near Dishman-Mica Road. The parking at the property on 44th Avenue is limited so we will carpool.
The work will end at 1 pm for lunch. Bring gloves and weeding tools. DHC will have plenty of gloves and tools if you don't have the right stuff. Bring water and a snack. DHC will provide a lunch for the volunteers who register ahead of time.
You will have a chance to visit this property that is not open to the public. And you will help bring back the native plant ecosystem. The photographs show this splendid property and some of the volunteer leaders involved.
