    Kids in the Hills

During May 22 to May 29, Kids in the Hills offers students an educational and exciting field day in the Dishman Hills. Through hands-on activities, students learn about observation skills, animal adaptations, natural science, and enjoy time out in nature. Volunteers in the DHC Education Committee along with volunteers from WA Certified Naturalists, WA Fish and Wildlife and Department of Natural Resources provide this outdoor experience for around 400 students in total.

The schools that are involved in this year's Kids in the Hills are Adams Elementary, University Elementary, Opportunity Elementary, Broadway Elementary, and Mullan Elementary.

Thank you to the dedicated volunteers from our Education Committee and WA Certified Naturalists.

    Stevens Creek Bird Hike

    with Jon Isacoff

Members only. Those not registered will be turned away.

Stevens Creek is among the best places in Spokane to hear a diversity of singing migrant songbirds. Sometimes we see them too! Come join us for an early morning hike while learning about bird songs and notes.

Meet in Stevens Creek Parking lot at 6AM.  We will hike to Big Rock and back and see and listen to bird songs.  With luck we should observe 20 or more species of songbirds, though more will be heard than seen in this wooded location.

Hike will be approximately 2.2 miles and 2 hours.

Though we will be traveling at a slow to moderate pace, the trail will be steep in places and hiking poles may be helpful.

Binoculars are recommended! Please come dressed for weather and bring snacks, water, and bug spray. It still tends to be chilly in the mornings and it is tic season.

Unfortunately, this is not a hike for dogs. Please park at the Stevens Creek Trailhead at 9102 Stevens Creek Rd, Spokane Valley.
