Date: Thursday, June 26th

Place: Camp Caro Lodge, 698 S. Sargent Road, Spokane Valley, WA

Times: Session 1 9:30-11:30 am OR Session 2 1:00-3:00 pm

This event will be held at the Camp Caro Lodge. It is designed to provide kids a hands-on experience in learning how microscopes work, what can be seen in plant and animal cells with light microscopes, and how to make their own slides. They will view a variety of plant and animal parts on prepared slides, fresh pond water slides of their own making, and live specimens of larger size under a stereoscope.

There is a limit of 10 students for this event, so we ask that you must register for one of the two sessions to attend. Now, open to members and non-members for registration. Adults are not required to stay, but we would like to limit it to one adult per child.

Please register by June 24. If having trouble, email Finola at events@dishmanhills.org

Maureen Miller and Lisa Klapp (Certified Washington Naturalist 2022) will be hosting a workshop for their Kids in the Lab on Thursday, June 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 or 1:00 to 3:00. As a professional cytotechnologist, Maureen used microscopes extensively to identify cancerous cells. Lisa worked in hospital labs as a medical technologist, then in high schools as a science teacher. Their professional work with microscopes makes this a professionally led event.
