Tranquil Thursday Hike - Ponds Loop

Join Ruth on a leisurely walk through Dishman Hills Natural Area.  We will look for early signs of spring and wildlife along the way. Get outside to connect with nature and other members in our community.

This week's hike will meet at the East 8th street trailhead at the junction of E. 8th and S. Park St. near Edgecliff Park (City of Spokane Valley) at 2pm. Parking is either on E. 8th street or at Edgecliff Park. Carpooling is suggested since parking is limited. If you park at Edgecliff, please go east to cross Park St. to get to the trailhead. There is a restroom at Edgecliff Park.

The trail is rocky, rutted and moderately steep on the Ponds Loop, otherwise it is a rolling but rocky path. We will take the Pond Loop and the side trail to the ponds and return to the  parking area for a hike of approximately 1.5 miles. Approximate time is two hours and dependent upon trail conditions, hikers, and how often we stop to admire our surroundings.

This will be an easy to moderate hike with several stops along the way. Expect a total elevation gain of 500ft 

Meeting Spot:   Dishman Hills Natural Area - Intersection of S. Edgerton Rd & E 8th Ave

Meeting Date & Time:   February 19, 2026 - 2pm

Hike Length: ~2 miles   - about 2 hours total

We will walk in rain, snow or sunshine.  Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Hiking poles and traction devices will be helpful as there are steep and rocky parts and there may be snow or ice on the trail.
