Join Inland Northwest Land Conservancy and The Lands Council for Waikiki Takes Root, a special community planting day at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve on Saturday October 10, from 10am to 2pm.
Please plan to park by 9:30am. It’s about a 30-minute walk from parking to the planting area, and we want everyone on site and ready to plant at 10. Staff and signage will be out to point the way.
Help bring the next chapter of restoration to life by planting native plants in newly restored areas along the Little Spokane River. Nearly 10 acres of floodplain are being restored after decades of rock and gravel fill prevented the river from functioning naturally across its floodplain. Now, as the landscape is reshaped to make way for a healthier wetland and more resilient river system, your help will give native plants a chance to take root and become part of the future of Waikiki Springs.
No experience is necessary—INLC and The Lands Council staff will provide tools, instruction, and support throughout the day. Come spend a fall day outdoors, meet fellow land lovers, and make a hands-on contribution to the restoration of this special place.
